  4. On the Login screen, you will find a "Forgot your Password" prompt. Click the link, and you will find instructions on how to retrieve your forgotten password or pick a new one. You will have to recall your Secret Answer to the Secret Question in order to change your password. If you have difficulties with these instructions please contact ASAS Help Desk.

  5. Why have I been Locked Out?

  6. You have been locked out because of repeated attempts to login to a Government of Alberta secure application using your Service Alberta Secure Login and an incorrect password. As a security measure, the Lock Out has been placed for the next 30 minutes.

  8. On the Login screen, you will find a "Forgot your Password" prompt. Click the link, and you will find instructions on how to retrieve your forgotten password or pick a new one. You will have to recall your response to your Secret Question in order to change your password.
If you have forgotten the response to your secret question, contact ASAS Help Desk.

  9. Why has my password become expired?

  10. Once every 365 days, the Government of Alberta enforces a password change for all users. This is an extra security measure to ensure you are the only one who may access your Profile Information and the ministry applications you have enroled in.

  11. What are the recommendations for passwords?

  12. Passwords must be 7 to 20 alphanumeric characters long. The password will be case-sensitive, and the ".", "-", "_", "!", and "%"symbols are allowed. Spaces are not allowed. We suggest passwords contain a mix of cases (lower case, upper case and numerals), and not contain any obvious elements important to your life such as child or spouse's name.

  13. When will I have to renew my password?

  14. The Alberta Secure Access Service will keep track of your password expiry date. Passwords must be renewed every 365 days.

  15. May I change my password before then?

  16. Yes. If you believe your password has been compromised, or if you wish to change your password for any other reason, simply click the "Forgotten Password" button on the Login screen.

  17. What am I registering for?

  18. The Government of Alberta wishes to extend service delivery to its citizens and stakeholders over the public Internet. Extending government services over the Internet improved the efficiency of government and speeds-up the delivery of program information to citizens. You are registering for a Service Alberta Secure Login (also known as a "User ID") and "password" to access these services.

  19. What is the Alberta Secure Access Service?

  20. The Alberta Secure Access Service is the foundation of an efficient, secure, centralized Authentication and Authorization system for Government of Alberta stakeholders including citizens, business partners, and public employees.

  21. What is the purpose of the Service Alberta Secure Login?

  22. The Service Alberta Secure Login allows citizens to register for a single "User ID" that will permit access to all online, secure applications being offered by the Government of Alberta and its ministries.

  23. What are the benefits to me of a Service Alberta Secure Login?

  24. The benefits are that you will be able to access an ever-increasing amount of ministerial information using only one "user ID" instead of one per ministry, or one per secure application. Your Service Alberta Secure Login becomes your passport to current and future online GoA services.

  25. What are the recommendations for Service Alberta login?

  26. Your login name must be at least 3 and up to 20 characters long, is not case sensitive, and can be a combination of letters, numbers and special characters. It should be something you will remember. If the login name you want to use has already been taken by someone else, you may have to try again.

  27. Why must I provide my consent?

  28. Some of the Profile Information that is about to be collected from you may be personal in nature. The collection, use, and storage of this information are subject to various privacy legislation. As part of privacy legislation, consent must be obtained from users prior to the collection of personal information. You can learn more about privacy issues that affect you from the Government of Alberta Privacy Statement.

  29. Why am I being asked for personal information?

  30. In order to establish a Service Alberta Secure Login, citizens are being asked for basic profile information. This information, along with other ministry-specific identification data that will be collected during the application Enrolment processes, will assist ministries to match your Service Alberta Secure Login to the information and services you are entitled to view.

  31. I have married, or changed my name. Which surname should I use?

  32. We recommend that you use the surname under which you primarily conduct your legal affairs today.

  33. How will my Email address be used?

  34. Ministries will have the choice to use this as a means to contact you. For example, if they need to confirm to you that you have successfully enrolled in an online application, they will do so by e-mail. Your e-mail address will not be used for any unsolicited correspondence, nor will it be shared outside of the GoA.

  35. How may I modify my Email address?

  36. On the Login screen, you will find a Profile Change button. Enter your Service Alberta Secure Login and password, and click on the button. The "Profile Change" feature enables you to modify the personal information you provided when you registered in ASAS.

  37. I refuse to provide Profile Information. Can I still access Government of Alberta secure applications?

  38. No. At the present time, Profile Information, along with other ministry-specific identification data, is needed to identify you, and permit access to Government of Alberta secure applications. Please contact Government of Alberta ministries directly to obtain service information.

  39. Should my Service Alberta Secure Login represent any part of my name?

  40. No, it is not necessary that Service Alberta Secure Login resemble your name or other computer user ID's you possess. In fact, the more obscure it is, the better level of security it provides.

  41. What are the recommendations for passwords?

  42. Passwords must be 7 to 20 alphanumeric characters long. The password will be case-sensitive, and the ".", "-", "_", "!", and "%"symbols are allowed. We suggest passwords contain a mix of cases (lower case, upper case and numerals), and not contain any obvious elements important to your life such as child or spouse's name.

  43. Why am I being asked to respond to Challenge Questions?

  44. Your answer to the challenge questions will be used to identify you if you forget your password.

  45. How can I change my password?

  46. On the Login screen, you will find a Profile Change button. Enter your Service Alberta Secure Login and password, and click on the button. The "Profile Change" feature enables you to modify the personal information you provided when you registered in ASAS.
You may also use the "Forgot your password" feature on the Login page. You will have to recall your answers to the Challenge Questions in order to change your password.

  47. What if I forget my password?

  48. On the Login screen, you will find a "Forgot your Password" prompt. Click the link, and you will find instructions on how to pick a new password. You will have to recall your answers to the Challenge Questions in order to change your password.
If you have forgotten the answers to the Challenge Questions, you will have to contact the ASAS Help Desk for assistance.

  49. What can I do with my Service Alberta Secure Login?

  50. Your Service Alberta Secure Login will be used now, and in the future to access GoA ministry applications.

  51. What could be the reason for technical difficulties?

  52. One of the processes or communication links that are integral to validating the uniqueness of your Service Alberta Secure Login is temporarily out of order. We suggest you attempt to log into the Government of Alberta secure application that you had originally attempted to access. Use the Service Alberta Secure Login and password you chose. If this is unsuccessful please contact ASAS Help Desk for assistance.

  53. How do I return to enrol in the future?

  54. You will be automatically directed to the Enrolment Process when you attempt to access a GoA ministry application for which you have not yet enrolled.

  55. What programs will I be able to access with my Service Alberta Secure Login?

  56. You will be able to access any application that is available to the public.

  57. Why is my Alberta Student Number being collected?

  58. When you enter your Alberta Student Number (ASN), verification will be made using your Surname, First Given Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and ASN. The verification process ensures you are in possession of enough information to entitle you to access the Online Services.

  59. Is my Alberta Student Number kept "on record " with my personal profile in the Service Alberta Secure Login?

  60. No, the Service Alberta Secure Login will store another unique number that identifies you as a Learner (student). This number will be used to identify you every time you visit and access an application or service that requires your ASN. You do not need to know or record this number as it only has significance to Alberta Education, and not other GoA ministries.

  61. Why is my Alberta Student Number not being validated during Enrolment?

  62. The ASN you have entered does not match with records that are on file at Alberta Education.

Two possible reasons for this are:
    - an incorrectly-typed ASN, or
    - the ASN entered does not match the Surname, First Given Name, Gender or Date of Birth for the ASN on record.

If you suspect the ASN was typed incorrectly, please re-enter it without dashes or spaces and click Submit.

If you suspect the profile information you entered during Registration is different from what is on record at Alberta Education, please click the "Modify Personal Profile" link and edit the personal information. Then you may return to this screen and re-enter your ASN.

  63. Why must I enrol in each GoA application?

  64. Each ministry must have the flexibility to assess the eligibility of citizens who wish to access online services and applications. This is due to the fact that applications contain varying degrees of sensitive information.

  65. What is the difference between Registration and Enrolment?

  66. The Registration process collects Profile Information that GoA ministries will use to identify you. The Enrolment process collects the ministerial and application-specific information required to assess, validate and enable your access to Government of Alberta secure applications.

  67. What if I am unable to enroll for an application that needs my Alberta Student Number(ASN)?

  68. Please report the problem to the Alberta Education Help Desk: 8:15 to 4:30 PM Phone 780-427-5318 (Toll Free 310-0000) Email:cshelpdesk@gov.ab.ca

  79. What are the recommendations for passwords?

  85. What is this site?

  86. In this site, you may conduct User Self Service to the profile information contained in the Alberta Secure Access Service.

  87. Why does the date change after I've selected a value?

  88. After you select a value from a drop-down list with your mouse's roller ball, you must click outside of that list before using your roller ball again. Otherwise, your roller ball will scroll the values in the drop-down window, which may not be your intention.
After selecting the date from the drop-down list, click elsewhere before scrolling down to avoid changing the date inadvertently on the registration and update profile pages with birth dates.

  89. Which fields can be modified?

  90. The surname, first given name, other given name(s), gender and date of birth fields may be modified. The information you enter must reflect the information that has been provided by your last school or any subsequent modifications made directly by Alberta Education.
